Introduction

Hello Students of Writing for the Sciences 21003,

This class is taught by Professor Pamela Stemberg, which I took in Spring 2021. In her class, we worked on various group and individual assignments. Although due to COVID-19 we weren’t able to have class in person, we had to find ways to work on these assignments together. Within this class, we were able to choose our own topics and discuss important issues that affect us all. Which was mainly about this COVID-19 pandemic and ways we could help other people stay safe.

We learned about different forms of writing and ways to approach them. In the beginning, we were able to join groups with people who shared the same concerns. Within these groups, we created a flyer that was targeted to a specific audience to help them stay safe against COVID-19. Then we were able to write a literature review that went more in-depth on the effects this pandemic had on our target audience. Finally, we created a children’s book in which we were able to explain important issues such as COVID-19. In between these assignments we had peer review sessions in order to help guide us to better our work.

This class gave us the guidance to put different ideas into one document to create a coherent assignment at the end. It also provided us with the experience of having interactions with other students in the class that would be similar to the one we would have if we were in class in person. With all of our assignments put together, we were able to cover all eight Course Learning Objectives. Listed within this website will be all the assignments I have completed in this class to help give you an understanding of what will be covered in this class.
